JOBSCOPE ERP Manufacturing Software Overview | JOBSCOPE ERP System Demo |
Data Conversion For ERP System Integrity
Historically, erp software implementation has focused on solving business problems and processes in quoting and estimating, engineering, production planning and scheduling, purchasing, MRP & material control, financial reporting, quality management, CRM, supply chain management, and inventory management. However, an often overlooked key driver of a manufacturing business is the quality of their data.
Strong data conversion and cleansing services are often crucial to the successful implementation of a new erp system. Whether historical data being brought over from existing systems, data supplied by customers or vendors, or cleanup of existing data, Jobscope’s data conversion and cleansing services will greatly enhance the success of your ERP software implementation.
Data Conversion & Cleansing Highlights
Data Standardization
Jobscope can standardize your data, making sure those common identifiers, abbreviations, and acronyms are used in a consistent way through your database. For CRM or name and address data, Jobscope uses US Postal standards and can perform address validations including zip to state verification.
Categorization & UN/SPS C Coding
Jobscope can assist in developing custom categorization schemes to vendor information, custom category codes to products, or industry standard product categorizations like UN/SPSC to ensure your MRP material requirements planning data is consistent and accurate.
Cleansing & De-Duping
Jobscope can identify likely duplicate products in inventories, duplicate supplier or customer records, or even duplicate invoices and purchase orders. This prevents errors in your systems and reduces inventory and purchasing costs.
Attribute Coding & Enhancement
Finally, Jobscope will not only clean and standardize your data, but also add value to your data via data enhancement. Data enhancement can include identifying product attributes, creating category taxonomies, filling in missing attributes, processing product photos and data sheets, and adding more information to the product descriptions.
Item Category identification
Items are assigned to a product category based on industry standards such as UN/SPSC or an internal client standard. Category classification is an important function in order to apply the appropriate category taxonomy to an item (i.e. an industrial motor has different attributes versus a cutting tool) as well as to perform ex-post category analyses.
Decomposition
Decomposition is the process of breaking down compound words that are found in many product descriptions to help in the standardization process. These patterns need to be first “decomposed” or expanded before performing the standardization and taxonomy mapping functions. The Jobscope solution offers many ways to extract compound words based on specification of “patterns” or sequences.
Standardization
Standardization is the process of converting abbreviations or variations found within product descriptions into unified and standard forms. To carry out this process, standard forms and variant values are defined at the “attribute/value” level. Standardization is an important step in the creation of transactable content. The Jobscope ERP software solution offers the most comprehensive, flexible, and accurate standardization engine offered in the industry.
Taxonomy Mapping
Taxonomy is the specification of various attributes that are important in the description of a particular item. Taxonomies are defined for each product category and consist of attributes and corresponding values that describe an item. The Jobscope solution allows different attributes for each category, so the maximum number of attributes is determined by the number of categories processed. The ex-post analysis of data based on these attributes provides significant value from both a supply chain optimization and demand forecasting perspective.
Removal of Duplicates
In the event products are supplied by multiple suppliers, there exists the possibility that the same item may be supplied by different suppliers with different descriptions and/or inaccurate information. Most systems are also plagued with duplicate records with minor differences. In this way, duplicates within and across suppliers or plant databases can be identified and removed.
UNSPS C Coding
Items are coded with the most current global electronic commerce standard (ECCMA) that provides a framework for classifying goods and services by commodity. This will provide data with segment, family, class and commodity codes.
Data Enhancement
Item descriptions are enhanced, whenever possible, by passing the electronic item master through a Master Library of Parts or enhanced by manual collection of information. Client supplied catalogs are used; distributor’s catalogs, web pages and vendor supplied cd’s are another resource of enhancement information
Master Reference Database
In the case where data is provided by multiple plants/procurement systems a master reference database(MRD) is derived containing all unique items found across all data sources. The MRD contains the unique items in their standardized form. The input source data is connected/linked to this MRD unique item database.
